For the uninitiated, a word war is extremely simple. A time limit is set. At the agreed time, the participants write for the duration of the time--for example, if the time limit is :00 - :10 then the participants write for ten minutes. At the end of the limit, the participants share how many words they wrote.
Easy enough, right?
1. Set a time limit 2. Write 3. Share

I can't wait for June to roll around so we can get started! Word wars are my SuWriMos saviour. Without them, my daily goals would simply flounder. :3

Competition! It's just the right amount to spur me on.

I think I mostly compete with myself when I word war. I like knowing that someone else is out there, writing and competing with me, but if they're a faster writer than I am, it doesn't bother me. I just like to beat my own records. XD

That's very true, actually. Every year I have wars with myself because nobody is around and still get a huge amount written. In fact, I've gotten so used to writing in this way, that even when I'm just writing alone during the rest of the year I write in 15 minute spurts to see if I can hit 900 words. XD It seems to be the fastest way for me to write.
